And new acquisitions. Art exhibition by students
And then it was party time! To celebrate that our museum participated in the pilot of the schoolproject Club Zien, together with Het Noordbrabants Museum, Design Museum Den Bosch, Van Abbemuseum and Stedelijk Museum Breda, we are organizing an exhibition in the Kunsthal together with students. We also show new acquisitions from our museum that were made possible by our Friends of Museum Helmond. In any case, you can see the installation ‘Black Rock Soft Storm’, a key work in Bob Demper’s oeuvre, for the first time.
The exhibition that we will create together with the students will feature art from our Modern and Contemporary collection. This consists of international visual art inspired by popular visual culture (media, comics, television, film, fashion, advertising, internet, games or street culture) and by the everyday living environment.
What exactly will the exhibition look like? That will remain a surprise for a while. However, educator and project leader of the exhibition at Museum Helmond, Annette Wilde, can already tell us this about it: “About 25-30 students from year 3 are working on the new acquisitions and a number of themes . We then exhibit the selected works in the lower room of the Kunsthal, the Roef Meelkerzaal.”
And it doesn’t stop there because the students are also involved in organizing the exhibition. “Consider, for example, creating the exhibition texts, color choices for the walls, the layout of the artworks in the room and actually placing the artworks,” says Annette. The exhibition will be festively opened in November, the month in which the five partner museums celebrate the end of the pilot period. From October 1, the exhibition will be the subject of the Club Zien programs.
